Bridget Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-10-14 (first published 2026-07-20; what changed is listed under "Changes to this policy")

Bridget Washington ("Bridget") is a drawbridge alert companion for Apple Maps users in the cities it supports (currently Seattle). This policy is short and plain because Bridget collects almost nothing.

What we collect

Your location — a one-time reading when you plan a route, and continuously only while a planned trip is active. The app uses location to:

• Plan a route from your current position to your destination.
• Watch the drawbridges on that route and warn you when one is backing up traffic.

When the route plan ends — you arrive, you clear it, or you deviate from it — Bridget stops collecting location.

We do not collect: contacts, calendar, photos, motion data, advertising identifiers, device identifiers, network info, or anything else.

Where your data goes

Only to Apple. Bridget has no servers of its own and uses no third-party SDKs — no analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising. Bridget's math runs on your iPhone.

What goes to Apple, under Apple's privacy policy: what you type when choosing a destination (Apple Maps search); your position and that destination when Bridget plans a route, and the destination again whenever you open Apple Maps from Bridget (Apple Maps routes); and the drive times Bridget asks for across each bridge's approach — measured between fixed points near the bridge, never from your position (Apple Maps traffic). If you leave a tip, the App Store handles the purchase. About your trip, Bridget keeps only the current plan and each bridge's latest reading, on your iPhone, and nothing after it ends. It also keeps each bridge's empty-road drive time and a running average of its normal traffic (a check on the measuring point), and your settings — none of it about you.

Tips (in-app purchases)

Bridget is free. If you choose to leave a tip to support development, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Bridget never sees or stores your payment information, and a tip unlocks nothing — the whole app is available without it. Apple's privacy policy governs the transaction.

What we never do

• Track you across apps or websites.
• Sell or share your data.
• Build a profile of your travel patterns.
• Store your destinations after the trip ends.

Your rights

• Stop monitoring at any time. Tap "Clear plan" in the app, or revoke location permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Bridget.
• Delete the app to delete all on-device data. Bridget stores nothing anywhere else.

Children

Bridget is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. Substantive changes will be announced in the app before taking effect.

• 2026-10-14 — "Where your data goes" rewritten. The earlier answer, "Nowhere", was wrong: Apple Maps search, routes and traffic, and App Store tips always went to Apple, as the paragraph beneath it already said. What Bridget does has not changed; the description has — so this correction took effect on publication, and the app's own copy of this policy carries the correction from version 1.2 on.
